TARA JOHNSON-MEDINGER / Executive Director
Tara Johnson-Medinger is a Director/Producer living in Portland, Oregon and recently completed her feature directorial debut, MY SUMMER AS A GOTH. Her producing credits include: MOTHER OF COLOR, CITY BABY, ROCK N ROLL MAMAS, THE WINDING STREAM, WORKING LUNCH & THE MUSICIANER.
Tara is the Executive Director of The Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (POW Film Fest) and the POWGirls Media Education Program. She served on the founding board of directors of the Women in Film Portland Chapter and was awarded the 2013 Service & Inspiration Award by the Oregon Media Production Association. Before moving to Portland, she was a manager of affiliate promotion at the FOX Broadcasting Company in Los Angeles. Through her production work as well as POWFest, Tara wants to promote and create new opportunities for women filmmakers. tara@powfest.com
JEANETTE LI / Lead Instructor
Jeanette Li is a Director of Photography, camera and lighting technician, and film production professional. Their production work has taken her all over the United States, to Indonesia, China, and Hong Kong where her various clients have included Michelin Tires, Estee Lauder, Sportman Boats, TLC, and FOX Network.
Since moving to Portland they have focused her work on a youth-centric web series adaptation of “The Secret Garden” which has been featured on AfterEllen, The Daily Fandom, New Media Rockstars, Pop Insomniacs, and Nerdophiles.
They are a member of Women in Film in Portland and was a volunteer for the Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival this year where they first learned of POWGirls. They are super excited to be leading a part of POWGirls program and looks forward to helping usher in the next generation of young women working in film!
